75. For a single decision you don’t usually need a whole moral theory, although having one provides a means for justifying specific judgments.

76. Alternatively, moral theory can provide a way to distinguish what is morally good and morally bad. Because moral properties can be derived from one another, as I indicated in chapter 3 and will show in chapter 5, it does not matter very much which moral properties are used in expressing a moral theory.

77. Although there are alternative ways of expressing a moral theory, as we shall see. But even most of those can be recast as a moral principle.
